Welcome to Troop 800's Web Site!

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 800's web site. Troop 800 is a boy-led troop chartered by Greenbrier Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. We meet on Wednesday nights (7:15-8:45 p.m.) year-round. We camp one weekend per month and usually also have a monthly "out-of-troop activity" (sometimes on a weekend and sometimes instead of a troop meeting.)

Court of Honor and Parent Meeting Wednesday!

Please come to Wednesday's quarterly Court of Honor to recognize all the boys' achievements over the past quarter - the September one is always a busy meeting. This one will also feature some talent (Scouts, be ready and submit your form to Jake!) and we will have a display table of the Uniform Exchange in case anyone is rapidly outgrowing his uniform or troop shirt. Scouts - make sure you contact your patrol leader and are bringing a homemade dessert to share! Parent meeting to start at 6:15 and the boys will start setting up then.

GREAT weekend for camping out! We didn't deal with the money online before the campout - you can go into the calendar, click on Moonyah, and pay online using PayPal.

Uniform Exchange Now Available

Uniforms are expensive, and Scouts grow fast! Plus, they are THRIFTY! We have started a Uniform Exchange to turn in outgrown items and take a gently-used items for a new size. There is no charge for used items, but please limit your request to 1-2 items and turn in outgrown-but-still-in-decent-condition items. The uniform exchange contains uniform parts such as pants, shirts, shorts, belts, activity t-shirts and even non-uniform Boy Scout t-shirts.  Please contact Mrs. Brand to request an items from the Uniform Exchange and/or to donate to it. A current inventory of the Uniform Exchange is listed under Files: Troop Admin.

Boards of Review Held First Wednesday of Each Month

Boards of Review (except for Eagle) will be held the first Wednesday of each month - schedule yours by contact Mrs. Brand (committeechair@troop800.org) at least TWO DAYS in advance. April BORs will be held on April 13 due to Spring Break.

HOW to pay online...

Did you know you can pay online for events using PayPal?  Here's how!

  1. You need to have a PayPal account. You can register by going to www.paypal.com and linking the account to either your bank account or a credit card.
  2. When you register for an event, you will see a red PLUS sign next to your Scout's name if online payment has been enabled.  You can also come back to this later by clicking on the event, then "attendee list".
  3. Click on the red plus sign. This puts the payment in your "cart". 
  4. Click on the cart on the main page (under the login information).  This will take you directly to PayPal, where you can complete the payment. 
  5. When you get a receipt in your email, please forward it to treasurer@troop800.org - this will ensure our troop treasurer is aware of your payment.  He will periodically update the website to reflect the payments (it does not happen automatically.)
  6. If at any time, you aren't sure whether a payment was received, please send an email to treasurer@troop800.org.

Paying online helps the troop!! Our treasurer does not have to attend every meeting just in case someone is going to pay for somethin, and your Scout doesn't have to track him down. It gives both you and the troop a good record of payment, and helps the troop leaders know where we stand on payment for events.  We are trying to make sure that all events are paid for BEFORE a Scout goes, and that we have received all payments before we have to send out a check for event registration.
